Metro Vancouver is preparing to ban landfill disposal of all food scraps and yard trimmings by 2015. In preparation for this ban a number of municipalities in the Greater Vancouver Regional District have altered their garbage collection schedules to collect garbage biweekly and organics on a weekly basis.
This move will significantly reduce landfill volumes and will also serve to save taxpayers a considerable amount of money while also benefiting the environment.
